Another product filled kit!

Just got my kit a few days ago... but I got a great start!

Did this layout: simple but colorful!
(this pic of Gavin isn't this dark onLots of great tid bits in this kit! The current My Mind's Eye products are FABULOUS!
And this layout... a favorite of mine is gray and yellow right now... my master bedroom is grey yellow and black. And I love it!

Scrapbook Circle January-SEVEN layouts!

First-thank you for your patience regarding my sleepy blog. Losing my father has put a halt to lots of everyday things... Thanks to so many that sent cards, emails, FB messages, sent meals, helped with kids... It has been fantastic to feel so much love and support!

Anyway, this kit was obviously some needed creative therapy.

I don't think you need more testimonial than SEVEN layouts from the kit. Yes. I added some alpha stickers... and a couple of embellishments-but 90% of what I used I would say was from the kit! SEVEN! I have never gotten 7 layouts from one months kit before I don't think!

LOVE the papers I get from this kit! I honestly thought I would miss getting coordinating cardstock. NOT at all! I don't use color much, and I have a lot of cardstock-so I MUCH rather get more printed! YAY!

So here is what I did:

Love placing the title in/on the picture sometimes. :)

This one-used a twisty tie to make a scroll/banner. And this heart pattern paper, I cut 4 inched down, flipped it, and the hearts lined up! Very cool!
This one... not only did I play with more banner action, but also scrapped some Build a Bear pictures... it's
Plus my Cricut expert friend Michele cut this heart for me. I told her the size (tall and width) and how far from the edge, and she programed it up on her gypsy. Crazy cool!
This one is my favorite, thought it didn't photograph as well as I would have liked... Using spray ink is very art-therapy for me! Added some star "confetti" too from my 'punch all over the page' punch.
This is me embracing this busy heart paper... and having some fun with my American Crafts Thickers...
Saw a similar variation of the banner craze, and I jumped aboard... It follows the blog entry about "trend spotting" (seen here)
Another of MY favorites... I think it is the mist again... :)
I borrowed some shiny red paper from my friend Shelley, and made MORE star "confetti"!

Imaginisce Release: Hippity Hoppity

Hard to think about Easter/Spring when it is a week before Christmas, but what the heck!

This line has some cute stamps, and titles to make completing your pages fast... and the bird prints and bird cages die cuts was my favorite, apparently. But I will say I am disappointed that there is nothing in the line that says "Easter".

So here is what I did:
I got my orange and purple mist out and pulled the sprayer out of the bottle and then spattered the paper.
And I love to use journaling as a aspect of the "design triangle" that stands along... plus I love to journal.

This is just a simple LO I put together. I did add some foam dots to the patterned paper and flowers to add some dimension.

And lastly-this little kite stamp was screaming out to me to have some simple paper piecing added to it. I am not one for fussy, and this is a simple card with a simple sentiment.

Scrapbook Circle December: Note to Self

I know I have said it before, but I LOVE this kit! I really feel like there is SOOO much to work with! I am not done with these three layouts! Not by a long shot!

Local girls-get the kit, crop with me, and you can have my layouts to use for inspo just like the "old" days. (It hasn't even been a month, and us Scrapaganza croppers are lost with out Scrapaganza to gather to!!)

The paper from October Afternoon with the circles, was screaming to me it needed punched out and sewn into a banner. :) Sewing it down, instead of just adhering it allowed me to then bent the little banners up for dimension... Banners. They are still going strong. And I can't say I don't like 'em.
Now for this 8 1/2 x 11, I used the paper strip I had left from punching out the banners, and I backed it with another pattern. I LOVE this picture of us from vacation last year. So us. It was taken last minute on our last day, because I almost forgot to take a family shot of us together on the beach.
LOVED the addition of the corrugated cardboard in the kit! I used it in the circle.
And the last one for today-I just LOVE the pieces of the Chaps line from American Crafts. The chevron is wonderful, I think!
More cardboard, and I outlined each patterned paper with gray...
Don't these tags work wonderfully with the paper?? :)

Glue Arts and Imaginisce!

I am a HUGE fan of Glue Arts! ESPECIALLY their Adhesive Squares-ExtremeTac! They are the BEST glue squares for just about ANYTHING, but especially felt!!So this is what I did:

I used the Glue Arts famous pink tape runner to attach my Bon Voyage papers to make a card...
And made a spiral flower in felt and used the PermaTac to attach it together, and then to the card... (BONUS-these adhesive squares were included with the runners refill! Look for THAT!)

Scrapbook Circle-My first month!! {November}

Honored to be a part!
And here are three of my layouts for the November Scrapbook Circle kit- Harvest Festival!
Got a 4th one-but I'll save that for when it is featured on the blog!
And a 5th one on my table, just waiting to be done!
LOVED this kit! I think I can get 6 out of it!
And scrappin' these now was perfect, because we are just smack dab in the middle of fall!
The trees here are still ablaze, and this kit had me in the mood to create!

This one, I got to try out the blanket stitch that I saw Michele Donner-Ramsey use on a store layout-and I just HAD to do it too! (details below)

I had to have this in front of me so I didn't mess it up...
Sewed on the heart hanging from the branch too... and check out that cheesy grin! LOVE!
The next 2: 8 1/2 x 11's... I like that I can throw them right into my 12x12 album with all the versatile page protectors out on the market!

...and the patterns in this kit! They really put together a stunning aray!
My 5th layout on my table is a "quilt"! The patterns are in perfect contrast with each other!
So here are the kits pictures... there was so much embellishment with the American Crafts sticker booklet, the Bella Blvd. sticker sheet, AND the Fancy Pants die cut set!
And those banner letters? Free printable! Love it!

Vol 25 - Jessica Rose ROCKS!

i have no excuse. none. notta.
ok. i have like 20. but i'm back for just a sec to show my appreciation to Jessica Rose.
she is the mastermind behind vol 25. awesome. remember "the story matters"?
she did our typewriter. and it's really cool.
so i decided it was time i had the print she made with this typewriter.
it matches my master bedroom.
and that doesn't even have a frame yet, and i have framed her "freebies" in my order!
she sent one intentional freebie. i created 2 more.

so this is what i did with her the "official" freebie:

Scrap Fest and Imaginisce Bon Voyage

So I had a TON of fun at Scrap Fest... but I'll be honest, there was work to be done too!
And you wouldn't think sitting in a chair all day would be hard... but when you make over 1000 make and takes (OK, not alone, I will admit) over 3 days, you start to get sick of the sound of your own voice! :)
We told EVERY person that did a make and take all the attributes of the Epiphany tools and all the shapes of the Epoxy Shape makers and Button Studio tools! EVERY ONE!

I must love these tools! Hee!

And I have the best bosses! It's been great at these shows! Not a bad gig!

ANYWAY, I got to meet some great people-and got to visit with some that I already knew-and got to hang out with some too!

Here is Emily Pitts! I lurk her blog all the time! Poor thing couldn't get away from me! All joking aside, she is so very nice! Just imagine, she is as nice as she is creative! (Uber!)

It is REALLY hard not to look at this picture and snort! I mean really! My breasts @ zero gravity (and that EXPRESSION!) and Brian "playing dead"-and Michelle Hill's joyous expression! How do ya not smile at this! Too funny!
And how do ya resist the big corny scrapbook page prop? Ya don't, apparently!
So there is my weekend recap!

And right after the weekend, Imaginsce launched it's new release "Bon Voyage"! I will say this is one of my ALL TIME favorites of Imaginisce! Great line of paper and embellishment! And Stamps!
Speaking of stamps... for this layout I stamped the cloud (several times) and the airplane with embossing medium and then used clear embossing powder.... heated, let dry and then sprayed with Tattered Angels Denim Blue spray mist. Then I thought the plane should be highlighted more, so I colored him in with my Marvy pens! That's it! easy Peasy!

I did this technique some time back that appeared in a layout in the July Scrapbook Trends... It is a favorite technique of mine with Kraft paper, as it is a more subtle look.
This time I did a 8 1/2 x 11 horizontal. Not my usual, but I work best for both the picture, and the paper. Love this paper! It started out with the embossed items on the patterned paper, and it was VERY easy to add embellishment from this line to the layout!
Lots of great die cuts and layered stickers.

Bella Blvd. creations...

Used some Bella to make a store layout and used up some other Bella I had left from a "Make a Dent Monday" (a segment I plan on bringing back!!)
This one I sewed... I think sewing needs to be a mandatory on every LO! Whether by hand or with the sewing machine, I love the look!
Aren't I clever with this title! :) Hee!

Though I have scrapped this picture before, it was itty bitty... so I rescrapped it big!

And congrats to all that made the DT! May I shout out to my friend Megan Klauer for making this, and being asked to the Jenni B. team, AND making the Basic Grey team! She rocks! Megan has a style that is easily recognized as hers (while I scrapbook like a schizophrenic! LOL!) and I have no doubt in my mind why she is so in demand! I haven't met a girl more deserving of her current success! Megan, remember I knew you "when"! LOL!

"Club" at Scrapaganza (Kaiser)

OK, I'll admit it. I wasn't all excited about using this product. It just didn't seem "me". I am ALL about bright color lately! And this ain't bright! But I ended up having fun!

The pictures are things I took pictures of (details) @ an antique expo. Obviously I wasn't done with my Chicago pictures. This is one I didn't have on my Amy Tan LO! Just took these pic's on my phone last weekend...
This is one I am still deciding it if is "done" or if it needs something in the space above the pictures. My thought was banner, but I am just not sure...
And this one.... I am not sure I like. Hmmmm....

Imaginsce-focus on Sticker Stackers!

Dimensional stickers... Gotta love 'em!

I got my Sticker Stackers out to make a card. Yes. A card.
I don't make cards all that often. I should. They don't take as long as a layout. Usually.

But when I make cards, I don't care what size they are. I figure I can throw them in the gift bag and call it good!
I used two stacked stickers placed together...
And punched a 1/2 circle out with a punch, and added my "peeking" deer in that space.
(since the deer stamped doesn't face this way, I cheated and put the image that comes with the stamp in there!)
That would be a great space for a stamped name, or sentiment too!

I guess it is time to start thinking about making (buying. cough.) Christmas cards!
Eek!

Amy Tangerine and Night Fall-American Crafts Love!

I can honestly say I have not been this excited about a paper line for quite some time! And I am NOT done! Nope. I WILL be back to creating with these. Cuz there the best I have sen from American Crafts, and they were already a favorite!!

First off, Amy Tan - AKA Amy Tangerine. I was lucky enough to meet her a few years back and and I got to meet her again at CHA this summer. Like her shirts weren't cute enough, her scrapbooking line is FAB-U-LOUS! OK, I feeling a little stalker-ish. But I have been scrapbooking for the store and designing for some time, and I really appreciate product that DOES excite me enough to inspire me create on my own! So there ya have it!

So this is what I did:

This LO I do love, but realized when I uploaded the pictures that I only took one full shot of this, so I have to retake this, cuz I didn't have any back-ups, and there is a bit of blur. Bummer.
(I'd do it now, but this layout lives at the store as a display for now!)
I did the layout, then added the felt camera when they came into stock after they were initially backordered. Perfect finish to the layout, if you ask me!!
This layout is just something simple I put with this photo... a photo that reminds me that even if I don't know what I am doing, I need to try. I might be pleasantly surprised, or even get to do a whole other direction just by trying... so there.
This mini book was completely for me... though it does live at the store right now (and we are now sold out on these awesome little journals/minis!) It isn't finished, but I did start it the day I bought the album. I just love it. I love how the from pictures layered on the cover turned out. And love the contents I get to work with to begin with! I will have just as much fun finishing this album, I am sure.

On to Night Fall. I don't usually get too crazy excited about Halloween lines. So many lines ahve witches and icky things I am just not gonna use. But this line by AC is FAB again! I LOVE the hint of turquoise-y blue! This is the layout I have done so far. There will be more in the future, darn it!
I {heart} clouds. This paper. Yum. The felt cloud embellishment. Double yum! Alrighty! Thanks for stoppin'!
I am on the upswing regarding finding time for what makes ME happy. I mean, my family makes me VERY happy, but I need something that is for ME. And for ME creating makes me happy too. And I feel like I need that outlet. It isn't always the best, but it makes me feel pretty darn good, creating. So here's to more of THAT!

Color outside of the box (literally).

OK, TODAY I saw this post...

I don't even remember how it is I came across it! She mentioned seeing these crayon canvas all over Pinterest. I didn't even have to go look! I saw hers and I went WILD with the prospect of doing one of these! So much so, I headed out with Cora to go to the store to get supplies before I had to pick up the boys!

So here we go...
I got the big box of 64 ( or is it 68??) ANYWAY, take out the black, brown, silver and white.
Then, go to work making them a rainbow. I did it on the floor so I could make sure it was the right length to fit my canvas.

I got these canvas at Walmart. 2 for $7 something.
(I also got smaller canvas boards too. 3 for like $5!)

My Helper!
My not so helpful one (for this project)... but man he's cute! :)
But he made me this, so I forgive him. :)
OK... sorry. Got off track there.

I could NOT find my cordless Imaginisce glue gun! So I used Fabric Tac. I thought it would hold up better to the heat. I bet 3-in-1 would work too. But Fabric Tac dries really fast! I am not a patient person/crafter! :)

OH-and make sure you do some of this, while creating! LOL!
Now this is a picture of the second canvas at this stage. I didn't get one like this of the first time around.
So, even though Meg said a hairdryer, I was a doubter. :) That hairdryer in her the picture could be one of those wallpaper scrapping dryers! But I was wrong. It was just a hairdryer! It REALLY works!!
The papers get soak-y and the crayons start to drip, then run! Now watch how you dryer blows and where in the stream it gets the hottest! If you keep it close and just move it a big, you can get some pretty straight down streams. But move it around willy nilly, and you get some FUN splatters and slashes! Have fun!
...and it doesn't take long to REALLY get the wax thick and running down nicely! Keep in mind, if the canvas is leaning too far back, it won't run as far down! (So if you have a "helper" be sure to keep an eye on the angle.)
So... when I saw the post earlier today, I immediately started to conjure up some ideas! Part of the reason I was so excited about trying it out!
Glitter, and "titles"!

I MIGHT have a few extra of these laying around here... (cough)
Martha Stewart glitter with it's "shaker" tops is PERFECT!!
I decided that the melting crayon would hold letters nicely...
OK, it was a messier prospect than I had considered. But keep in mind, it is easy enough to heat it up and add stuff. (Keep some Q-tips around to remove soft wax when it goes somewhere on a letter you don't want it to!)
Next, I added glitter. The first time, I added it after the fact (sprinkled, then heated to "fix" it). The second time, I threw it in as we were melting.Here is the glitter the best I could capture close up :
(Got some on the actual crayons too!)
In addition, I thought the letters were too darn plain (uhhhh). So I added some glue to the tops and glittered different colors!
Here is the end result!
And here is the title of my second canvas! (Before I added rhinestones and crystals).
(This is going to a fabulous teacher friend of mine! :) Hope ya like it Mrs. D!)
And the full canvas! (Can't get the contrast just right in the picture...)So TRY IT! Inexpensive, and FUN! Think of all the great things you could add too! I want to try to "mask" the letters (place them down, melt, then left them up to they canvas is blank where they were. Not sure if it will work, but hey, it'll be fun to try!)

This is the BEST time to get crayons! Clearance from Back to School sales!!

Geek is Chic! (Imaginisce New Release!)

Imaginisce does it again... they have released another line-and this time for school!
Good timing!

This line is pretty cute.
If you are about getting your pages done, grab a sketch book, and go to town with this line! There are even tones of pre-printed titles in this line!

So here is my take!

For this LO, I used the "Punch All Over the Page" (I think that's right?) to make star "confetti".
I have seen lots of adhesive used-modge podge for lots of "confetti"... but I only had a few, so I just used my glue stick. Fun easy way to add a touch of fun!
For this one, I kept it simple. I love this picture... I can remember what it felt like to walk up for your first day of school! Excitement with a little bitter sweet that summer is over.
And try not to fall over... this card is inspired by my friend Megan Klauer. Used her card as a sketch for MY card! Thanks Megan! :)

I {heart} Faces Photo Challenge! (Pet Week)

Hey, why not, right?
Thought I would throw my hat in! Love this picture of our cat Ashton!
(Asherton Peabody. Ash-hole when he is in trouble. :) )
He wasn't the kitten we initially picked... but as the kittens got bigger, that adorable smudge face and AWESOME (though sometimes frustrating) personality came out! He is one of the most friendly cats I have ever had... and I have had a few cats in my day!

Scrappinista Scrapbooking Club layouts...

I love our club! Gives us the chance to use some of the newest product, AND being as it is a class in the store, we get to share with people IRL! Layouts, technique, sketches... we aren't afraid new things in club!

And thank goodness for this deadline each month that forces me to create! I mean that! If I wasn't doing club, I wouldn't get a chance to STOP and create!

This month is a Melody Ross line from GCD. And BONUS, Megan Klauer GD this month!! We love Megan at Scrapaganza!!

Let me start with the not-so-easy-for-Penny 2 pager! I had some fun with this one.
I started with a basic sketch from an Allison Davis sketch book (Book 1)...
...and added mist and some actual sketching...

That first flower on the left, was from a seed packet I was given for Mother's Day from Gabriel as part of a basket he made at school for me! So glad I planted it!

For this layout, I thought this paper was the best to highlight myself and this wonderful women that I love SOOO much! I might be one of a few women that love their MIL this much, but I do! I have no idea what I would do without her!
I used packaging on this one! I punched 2 inch holes in the paper, then backed it with that yummy green pattern of the embellishment packaging! I also framed part of the picture with that same sheet of packaging!
Next... boys and flowers. I use flowers with my boys. Yes I do! :) Love the flocked flowers on the bottom of this sheet. I added punched and pop dotted centers-some with chipboard embellishment too!

Something random.

OK, maybe not TOO random.
Kelly and Beth and I were talking about this-helping people realize there ARE no rules.
And sometimes it is about just making something. Making ART! :)
So I took the Studio Calico postcards I love so, and made this sign.
It is up at the store, but will eventually be in my scrap room.
And this layout I did for the store. I have been sitting on this paper for some time.
I finally got an idea that inspired me to get it out and get it DONE!
I guess I am not over the banner thing.
I love the randomness of this border!
I love the sweetness of these lines!

Kraft Journal Guest Designer!

Thank you Beth, from the Kraft Journal, for asking me to Guest Design!

Use Kraft cardstock. THAT'S not a stretch for me! I LOVE Kraft paper!
So I had no problem!

This layout it not only using Kraft paper, but Epiphany Crafts punches/epoxy and embellishment! AND I scrapped an 8 1/2 x 11 I have been dying to scrap.Thanks again Kraft Journal! It was a privileged! Now go on over and check out my little ditty about me! :)

"Happy Harvest" Release {Imaginisce}

It's hard to think about Fall right now. I'll admit it.
I love fall. (I hate that it is the gateway to winter...)
Looking at my one page layout after I took the picture of it, I figure I must REALLY {heart} fall-since it states it twice! LOL!

Happy Harvest has the cutest critters!
It has owls. Anyone that knows me knows I have owl issues. Love 'em.
Take me to a "junk store" (vintage/antique) and I go RIGHT for the owls each time.
Apparently I am not the only one, because said owl "junk" has been going up in price.
So now it is a hunt for a deal. But that's OK!

So Happy Harvest has cute owls... and a fox... and a TON of prints that work with just about anything else.
And yes-I did a 2 page layout... (no one fall over).
This is a Allison Davis sketchbook sketch.
Love these books! They are a sell out at the store! They are just ordering more now because they all sold out! Simple sketch-lots of options.
And for my 1 pager, I used a lot of chalkboard mist (not as opaque as I had hoped for), and used lots of the embellishment. Simple, but a way to highlight the wallet sized pictures I used. I lifted the little owl and fox off of the journaling cards, and placed them back down sideways, so when on their side, they were facing the right way on my LO... Does that make sense? So the lines aren't on wrong, I messed with them! :)

Tags for me are like little scrapbook pages! The ideas and variety are limitless!
And they can be a fun little creative outlet! I loved playing around with the bits and pieces!
Nice to take a break from 12x12 for just a sec!

So here are my tags!

The first one, with the Echo Park stickers (thank you Echo Park for a sample of your FABULOUS "Dots and Stripes" line!),
is my favorite! For all three tags, I decided to go with blank tags and mist or paint.
Cardstock banner from animal crackers, the rub on banner from birthday bash, and the blue single banner and the birthday sticker are Echo Park!
The next tag, I used a Ranger Paint Dauber to "Patty Splat" the paint! Juice it up and "SPLAT"! This technique is great for fireworks layouts too! :) Stickers: Echo Park; Rub on and "candle" Birthday Bash.
And lastly I did a party invite-I placed it on a water bottle-you could add drink mix to make it a fun color, or choice your favorite drink to hook into the theme! How about root beer get together featuring root beer floats? Maybe I shouldn't blog when I am craving sweets... Or an invie on one of those cute little wine coolers? ANYWAY, more Birthday Bash rub ons, and some Echo Park paper and a touch of Animal Crackers and some Berrylicious! So there are some simple ideas for tags from me!

It's a keeper! Whimsical and fun, with lots of great prints that you could use for ANYTHING! Love that! Be sure to check out all that the Design Team has created! (It's staggering, actually!)

Here is what I came up with!

Simple yes, but my favorite of the three. I had fun making the little highlights on the suns rays with my iRock!

This one really demonstrates the great prints of this line! There was a bike in the die cuts, so I thought to scrap this picture of my son, when he got a bike from Grandma (and Grandpa).
And finally, a camping LO! :)
Again, great prints. Kind of a vintage touch to the thermos and mugs.

Imaginisce got it spot on with this pre-cut paper and FABRIC "spiral" flowers! There are SO many in a pack of paper flowers-and different edges for a different look each flower! It takes all the work out of the flower making process, AND you get more variety than one die cut could give you! They are also in a great size!

These are the best! The fabric allows for more durable wear! Just what we need for hair clops, mini-book overs, flowers for shirts, purses or shoes, and so much more!!

These badges are the best! Pin and clip!At Scrapaganza, we were all given a large Maya Road bottlecap to decorate as we chose as our name-badge. I FINALLY got to mine! I used the new flowers and some other embellishment from recent Imaginisce releases!

Imaginisce Challenge-May!

So it's time to get the guys involved, it seems...
(Layouts for men... or man boys...) AND you have to use a snag 'em stamp! Their cute stamps are only $1! Gotta love that!

So I did a layout with my husband and my son.
This was a day they were at Chuck E. Cheese for a birthday party.
And he was ALL Dad! Playing this video game for SO long with the boys!
They were as if in the jungle, shooting giant spiders and dealing with other peril. :)
He is a good Daddy. This I know. He TOTALLY deserved the title!

Crate Paper "Neighborhood" love!

OK, so I went a little crazy with this months "Scrappinista" club at Scrapaganza.
Cuz I LOVE this line of papers! LOVE! It was so easy to use... I had no problem creating with this line! FIVE layouts from this kit!

This one is my favorite... I love this picture! Hard to see, but I caught my husband having a great time on a fair ride. To funny!
I love this picture also, of my son walking our old dog. Gabby lives at Grandma's, but Gabe is in charge when she comes to stay at our house.
I love this mustard color, and I love grid. So a monotone layout was in order. The blue, I think, really pops!
That SMILE! She cracks me up! When she is happy, BOY is she happy!
This was a SUPER simple layout! But it keeps the focus on that smile!
...and more sewing... I have been sewing so much on my layouts lately!
And last (but hopefully not least) is this layout. I borrowed this picture from my friend Alicia! I couldn't help scrappin it! I know 2 of these little ladies! They are so sweet!

Little Cuties-Imaginisce New Release (BOY!)!

OK, so day two...
So I guess they intended this line to be "baby"... so I decided one baby layout was in order!

I love an occasional 8x10. Great with thos showcased smaller pictures too...

I decided to isoloate a lot of the stars from the boy line for this layout. I love stars. And this picture has been waiting for a layout. It is very simple, but sometimes the clean lines of "simple", make me happy. (Nothing much else in my life is simple!)

I am not sure if it is the color of spring, or the whimsy flowers, or the sweet argyle I like best about this release, but I had NO problem creating these layouts! Layouts I can say came easily, and made me feel like I was getting something done!

Paper Piecing everywhere!!

OK, so my Cricut Expression doesn't get as much use as it should. I'll admit it.
But I did get it out recently for a call I was asked to do.
And I liked it. (Did I just say that?)
OH, I do a shape here and there... but the layered stuff...
I was too scared. Not any more.
One of the layouts are up for consideration for the book I submitted too...
But this one I can share! (using Stella and Rose as the backdrop!)
FIVE Cricut elements! :) The owl, the title, the green border, the Ukrainian nesting doll, and the banner! Can you believe? Maybe I am just showing off now.

See how I snuck 3 Epiphany Crafts embellishies in there too?? :)
I kinda feel I have to ink my layered elements... I like the look better. Speaking of paper Piecing, that is April's Challenge of at Imaginisce!!

...just "stuck"...

I really didn't realize it had been so long since I posted! What?!?

So here I am. :)

I wanted to post a Scrappinista LO I did using Cosmo Cricket 1934 line!
AND a Cosmo Cricket Glubber (Glue-ber?) :)
If you like to make flowers out of ribbon 9 I used Maya Road ruffled satin here) and fabric, this is the glue dot for you!
You get a ton in the package, and they work like a DREAM!
The only problem is finding them!
We got them in the store, and they have been sold out since! EEK!

The black ring is me stamping with a toilet paper roll. Yep. All class around here!

I also added Epiphany Crafts embellishies!

And I'll just put this one out there, even though it seems unfinished to me... it needs journaling somewhere or something. But it IS a 2 page layout! You don't get those out of me much!
I promise I won't be such a stranger!

The Story Matters March-and more.

How did it get to be March?
Well it is. And so that means it is The Story Matters Kit time!

And this is the LAST kit that we do quite this way...

8 is SO big!

8 years old today!7 seemed "little" still.
8 seems so BIG.
He's my baby though... always will be.
EIGHT whole years ago, I was in the birth center, in a tub, delivering joy!
Eight years ago I gave birth to baby boy number 2.
Eight years ago, I got to be a mother toTWO boys.
Eight years ago, I was proud of myself! (You WERE a 10#3oz. waterbirth after all!)
Eight years ago I gave birth to a brother, a friend, and the child that is most like me.
Eight years ago I was reminded of God's grace.... and every day since.

Gabriel Lee, I love you so much! I always will.
I marvel at the big boy you are becoming, and I get glimpses of the man you will be.

I thank God for you each day!

(AHHH, couldn't find the 1st year cake pictures!)

I noticed that not only am I not posting anything about my kids, but I am not really posting about anything!
I even had Mad Monday layouts to show you!

Better late than never!

Since I would have been mad if she HADN'T (she loves them so.. I just KNOW she is their biggest fan and SO deserves the spot) it's a good thing! LOL!

This one was just fun... and this poloroid I was afraid would get lost if I didn't put it somewhere better than the fridge! LOVE the cloud stamps from the Studio Calico kit!
I made rain with the rhinestones. :)
And yes... that is me. I miss the days of horses (before kids) and horse shows, and the small of a sweaty horse. I do. :)

Myself, Kim Holmes and Erin Bassett are hositng three days of True Love.
We're creating, right?
LOVE!

I am hosting the day of layouts. (Big surprise, right?)

The point? To use any and all Imaginisce product to create "Love" layouts, cards and projects!
Who needs a dedicated love line? Not us!

OK, I'll admit. I have been wanting to get dirty and get more "artsey".
When I ink, it's bright and bold.
I love and appreciate vintage and distressed, but my first love is COLOR!

I've done this before (it's been too long) where I spray ink heavily on the top of the page to get the colors running down...
I didn't have a box layout around, so I made myself a cheap spray station. :)
In an effort to help the drips down, I "flicked" the page. The cool side affect is that it splattered ink randomly on the page. Neat accident.
I saw some stamping recently that looked like it was done with spray ink.
So I decided to give it a try. I have used the Tattered Angels stencils to "stamp" before, but not my clear stamps (or rubber stamps).
So I grabbed a cookie sheet, sprayed on it, put my stamps in it, and stamped on my layout...
Then, as to not waste my ink. (Yeah, that was why) I thought to dip journaling strips in the leftover ink.
Got my 25 cent heart punch out again and then sewed those punches onto the top of the layout (after I stamped two stamps along the top edge of the layout. Grid and distressed journaling lines.)
The Imaginisce die cuts, I had been saving these fun trees and flowers to use together!
So the picture is from when I first moved back to Iowa in 1998. Jerry and I had just bought a house together, and I was with him at a gig.
It seems like so long ago. And it seems like yesterday. :)

I think looking back, my journaling is confusing. I'll have to write more on the back of the layout. :)
We have known each other for 26 years. We dated for 5-6 years, I moved out of the area, but we were still friends. We always stayed in touch. We reconnected after failed relationships on both our parts, and I moved back to Iowa in 1998. I have been gone several years.

The Story Matters February!

I made no dent...

But I HAVE made 4 layouts for "The Story Matters"!

This kit if AWESOME, if I do say so myself!

I love the nod to Valentine's without going all over board.
The colors make me want to go vintage shopping and to plant flowers...

So get a kit while they last! It's all the best product and the best price!

This one was the first one I started, and the last one I finished!
The stickers in the kit made me think to scrapbook our moving into this house (it was built for us!) It was a fun process, and I have only scrapped it a bit. So I went with it this month with a couple more layouts to add to that subject.

I got to use a couple new border punches by EK for this one. And I used frayed burlap and a blending tool. I need to do that more. (Thanks Kim!)
And this last one, well, this picture has been waiting for a layout for some time.
It's hard to see, but there is yogurt on the wall behind her, and all over the high chair, and all over her. "Boy am I mad. Hold on while I get the camera."
Don't all scrapbookers parent this way?

Notice the little heart on each layout? I LOVED this sticker sheet, and I obviously was not letting even one of those hearts go to waste! :)

MAD Monday - Take 4

*MAD Monday stands for "Make a Dent" Monday... every Monday I try to "Make a Dent" by scrapping my scrapbooking supplies that have been hoarded, and have thus been sitting around looking pretty, but not being used. Solution. A regular feature that forces me to use my stash!

OK, so it is usually Monday EVENING now that I "make a dent"... but that's OK.

This time, I used my Studio Calico kit... the current kit.
I am not sure why the song "Baby, Don't Treat Me Bad" came into my head, and influenced this layout title... and why I went this direction with this layout.

As my daughter heals AND I deal with family trials that make me realize I too have had a heck of a start, I take this moment to pause on how much I can relate to my daughter. We were both adopted... she was an orphan for 2 years. I was abandoned first by my birth mother, then my adoptive mother in my teens... it doesn't hurt less because I am over 40.
I miss having a mother I can talk to regularly, who loves me unconditionally. I love my father. He has stood by me. He does loved me unconditionally... most days. He is SO hard on me. I can usually handle it. I do because I would do anything for that acceptance. And I am devastated when he yanks the acceptance away with criticism.

But I don't feel sorry for myself. Though I do mourn on occasion what I don't have. Then I go back to my "choose joy" attitude. And pray for more love and acceptance in the future.
ANYWAY, I did this layout, because on this part of the journey, I realize just how much my unconditional love means to Cora. That through the current therapy she is going through, WE are going through, we have so much in common, and we can be there for each other. I love her despite it all... more than I ever thought possible.
(I also threw in some Hambly transparency, AND those squares are cut from the ad postcard in the SC kit. :) )

OK, the NEXT layout is a bonus! Also from the Studio Calico kit, I decided to participate in the ABC Scripture challenge that Patter Cross is hosting/leading. I SHOULD be on "B". I had "A" MOSTLY finished for some time. {Anchor is the "a" word} So now it is done, and I can move on. :)

I kept it simple, but misted... and hand stitched. :)

The flowers are handmade, before "Roly Posies" came out! :)
OH, and I thought of an #11! I kinda think scrapbooking without journaling is silly! {ducking} :)
I judge scrapbooking at a local fair, and the entrants KNOW how I am, and know that if "where, when, and who" isn't SOMEWHERE on the page (or on the back even) they could lose a blue!
You will RARELY see a layout of mine without journaling. And if it doesn't based on design, I journal on the back! I want the people related to me 100 years from now to know why I did this! Otherwise they will just pretty pages stacked in a antique store like so many photos today!

MAD Monday... take 3!

Animal Crackers RELEASE PARTY {Imaginisce}

It's time for the release of Animal Crackers!
Don't worry... it is not JUST for circus goers!
There area a lot of fun patterns and prints and banners that could be used for Birthday (there are even animals with party hats on!), everyday/playtime, kids, school...
But it's hard not to like it's bright colored fun!

OK, so I'll start with my first layout (I have another one in the works)
I LOVE bright colored mists! These happen to be Maya Mist.
I did "game night" for my first layout.
Grandma Sue and Aunt Pat playing Wii! Too funny!
It kinda worked out that they were looking up at the picture with the TV screen. I really didn't work that out ahead of time. Sometimes there are happy accidents. :)
I decided to sew inside of the stars. Took awhile, but I might try it again sometime.

OK, so be nice. I am a LAYOUT girl!
I got this album at our garage sale at Scrapaganza.
This album is made from popcorn holders you can get at Hobby Lobby. FUN!

MAD Monday!

"Make A Dent" Monday take 2!

OK, so it is barely Monday anymore.
But sometimes it may be later on Monday I get to go MAD. :)
I had this October Afternoon "Report Card" paper I have been hoarding.
So I thought to scrap a subject that we may forget about if I didn't get it on paper.
Gavin started 4th grade, and his teacher thought he needed more of a challenge in math.
So she suggested he start 5th grade math.
It HAS been a challenge for him.
And he doesn't always like it not being "easy", but his Dad helps him daily,
and it is an opportunity to grow.

So I scrapped it.
I used several alphabet sets... Thickers, Cosmo Cricket, and Maya Road rub-on letters.
I got my Heidi Swapp "invisibles" chipboard stars as masks. (Inked with Maya Mist in a green).
Used my new Fiskars star punch...

This was FUN! I like goin' MAD!

So here is my layout:
(click to see larger)I misted using a mask... a mask like this can EASILY be made by using the leftovers from Cricut cutting!
I used three colors. Green, yellow and pink. I sprayed green, then moved the mask a bit to the right, sprayed yellow, then moved the mask to the left of the green spraying and sprayed pink.
I made sure to over spray on the top and bottom too.
I put down a chipboard bird too.
He's subtle, but he's there.

The I-Top brads were a way to add the striped paper as an accent, without it being overpowering.
It was also a way to add different sized matching brads to the layout.
I also added a few I-Rock Glam Rocks "Rhinestuds" that match Garden Party PERFECTLY!

January The Story Matters Reveal

I will say that with this kit I was hopeful, but I was not sure how I would do with it...
But I was lucky. The creativity was flowin'!
I love that.
When you see a paper or embellishment and an idea pops in your head!
AWESOME!
Wish it happened every day.
I'll take what I can get.
I ALREADY have four layouts from this kit, and I hope to have more with the challenges ahead!
I haven't even used my cute date tags yet!
(See some of the other designers LO where these are highlighted!)
They were an etsy find!

These first 2 layouts were when I got my "punch all over the page" punches by Martha.
I pop dotted around the back edge of the punched shape to the paper was set back and it gave dimension.
So maybe it is time to move on from Christmas... but there is plenty of conversation still going on about whether it is OK or not to have the tree down yet on Facebook... so just one more Santa layout!
The star is also a new Martha punch...
This picture... I LOVE this picture of us! It is SO us! Each and every one of us!
I just put my camera on the trunk of the car, and set the timer, and I will ALWAYS be glad I did!
I will have this picture hanging on the wall at the nursing home! It's priceless!
This is a very simple LO, but I just LOVE this picture of my son, and it worked with the size of the cards and the childlike simplicity of the LO.
(OK, I might be laying it on thick with that comment.)
Notice I haven't gotten over my sewing phase yet? :)

I don't need any other background. Those are my favs.

Seriously.

The people that know me think I am funny.
No really.
Can't tell by my blog most days.
It's all "look at this"...
Ugh.
So I need to be "funnier".
It's who I am.
Of course when I am being more funny, I am usually being more opinionated too.
We'll see where that leads us.
Might get me kicked off the web.
We'll see.

So let's start with why "Make a Dent" Monday's...
Cuz I have too much crap.
Scrap crap.
I hoard.
I save things for that "special" project.
Then is sits too long and it ends up at our LSS garage sale with me saying "I really loved that."
Duh.
Who am I kidding.
I will never be able to use all this...
but I could at LEAST try!
Geez.

Go Me!!

So I am going to do a layout EVERY (cough) Monday,
using ANYTHING that isn't due for an assignment,
or a call,
or a class!
Period.
And I am going to get messy more.
(OK, so I didn't get messy today.
I just got something done.
Baby steps.)

First, the proof...
Now I can show you all those pretty close ups that make it look like a have an awesome artsey scrap space.
That would be a lie.
I mean, I DO have a cool scrap space (well, I think so anyway)
but it is NEVER fully clean or organized.
If I wait to show you the room when it is clean....
...well, we all will be gone...
SO, I'll go with what I have.

So let's start with the pretty close ups, shall we?
Here are a couple of my vintage cameras.
Leave it to me. I never got lucky enough to have a vintage camera perfect for TtV's already,
when I discovered TtV shooting.
Yep, that's my luck.
And a couple of my favorite stamps (I have an owl thing, btw.)
And a wire figure my son made me out of sparkler wire leftovers.
Pretty creative if you ask me. (He gets that from me. snort!)

Another of the shelves... another camera, a bingo card,
and some random doll I thought looked like my son
(or would anyway) during an ugly ebay stint years ago.
Lots of purchases that made no sense really.

I love that picture of Jerry and I.
It is our engagement picture.
(only a tad over 10 years ago... where did my hips go?? There in there SOMEwheres! :) )
It was signed by most of the people at the reception.
And it STILL doesn't have glass!
I might be being a little TOO honest. Eek.
Oh well.
The other pictures are here because they are in frames I probably wouldn't buy today,
but they worked in here because of the somewhat manly green color.

I didn't take a picture, but, I was inspired by Christina Middlecamp years ago, to have my husband and I share this room. (She use to share a space w/husband.)
He has a desk in the corner.
"Side by side" time.
We make comments to each other once in awhile.
It's better than no time.

More illusion...
My adhesive basket that sits on my desk.
It's really more for less used and back-ups.
I have one of those scrap bags you see everywhere at crops.
That's were my adhesive I use regularly lives...
But THAT'S not pretty!

Now the reality...
THIS is my work space.
And I would say it is actually pretty clean right now!

I still can't part with my Autumn Leaves calendar.
What?!? It's only like 4 years old!
That red pottery?
You could just TELL it was made by a kid in school.
And the parents or grandparents gave it to Goodwill!
Perfect for my pens.
One of a kind, really.
See the pyrex cuties and rack?
Well, I chuckled, because when I took a close up,
(I throw loose buttons and brads and things in there that would get lost and never seen)
I didn't realize that one of the dishes was toppled.
I didn't even notice it!
And I am SURE this one did it!
(Notice him sticking his tongue out at me??)
His name is Ashton.

And we KNEW we had the right name for him when my husband said
"And when we are mad at him we can call him "Ash-hole"!
Or was that me...

Let's back up a second! When you walk into my house, this room is what you see...

So I TRY to keep it neat. (snort-more like hope no one ever comes over!)

The dresser I keep Tim Holtz/Ranger and class set up stuff in...
and things I like to look at on it.
Notice the labels still stuck on it from the person that gave me the dresser.
She actually labeled her dresser contents. (There's an idea. Or not.)

One of my fun finds...
I got this shoe mold holder at Three Potatoe Four.
(Over priced vintage. but they find some cool things...)
I put embellishments that I don't want to fall into the Abyss there.

OH, and if you noticed my FABULOUS workbench

I got for Christmas LAST year,
Here is what faces me! Fabulous drawers!

Not everything in there is very pretty... I would LOVE to eliminate all plastic.
(Even the "didn't have anywhere ELSE for them to go" wooden shelves are better!)
I keep most of my stamps here:
(there are a TON of stamps stuffed into that floral bag! )

OK a couple more...
...they get messier as they go.
My paper tray and my Ikea expedit 2 cube x 4 cube shelving.
...not very neat, but it conceals much of the mess!

I like having pictures and items that are just for lookin' at!

Yes, that is a reproduction "antique Italian liquor monkey poster".
Say that 5 times fast!
Those flowers will be headbands one day.
I like the Clip it Up system. Even if it really isn't all that nice to look at.

OK! On to the point!
Let's start easy.
I had a pack of Bella Blvd. "Estate Sale".
And whipped up this:
Simple, but it got these picture that I LOVE on a layout.
Maybe it's crappy... but at least I USED some crap!
(OK, I would NOT let my kids say that word!
What is WITH me!)

I DID sew. I am SO addicted to sewing right now!
Geez!
I'm not good at it.
But I enjoy it!
If you didn't read about the machine I got, I'll remind you.
The Janome Sew Mini. It has the same metal bobbin drop and and needle housing the big Janomes do! I have sewn a lot, and my friends at crops have too... no issues!
It is SUPER light weight, so I take it to crops every time now!

What a wonderful thing Patti is doing!

Through these donations, someone is going to be able to adopt these little girls and save them from a life in an institution.

Let me tell you... even 2 years in an orphanage did it's share of damage to our precious daughter... imagine, being one of say 25 kdis, with 2 caregivers. No one answering your cry. No one to hold you, "just cuz" your a gift.

So though I am not included to post things like this... this time it is worth the exception.

And hey, may as a bonus, you will win an IPad for Christmas! :)

January TSM sneak...

How did I forget to post about TSM January?

Well, this post will be incomplete... but not for long!
Last night I went to the crop here and got THREE pages done from the January kit!
That is 4 layouts so far! HUH??

I wasn't sure I was in love with this kit... ...but for some reason, it just works and FLOWS!
I thought I was done, then I would get started on another, because the pages just sitting there were calling out ideas to me. YAY. That never happens. Let me tell you. Some days it is just pulling teeth getting a layout of me.

I am really loving the Making Memories envelopes and labels and paper... I was having fun with the snowflakes in so many different colors too.

I bought all the "Punch All Over the Page" Martha punches as soon as they hit the store. They weren't even out of the boxes yet.

So here is the sneak to my first page... I have three more to take pictures of! I think I must get my sewing machine out before they are "done".

Imaginisce "Garden Party" Lauch!

I personally think it is a great idea, beautiful flowers on our paper and in our scrap rooms at a time when there are not many flowers around for so many of us!
And let's be honest. We frequently are scrapbooking out of season. Forth of July in December, Christmas in July.

My sketch layout using "Garden Party" is just in another post below.

I just got the AWESOME "punch all over the page" punches by Martha Stewart ("Whatever, Martha!") THIS idea in punches was a long time coming! LOVE them! I have used it twice. On my TSM layout for January, and now for this layout. (Simple for me (AND 8x10)... but I think it turned out OK!)
I have two other shapes in these punches, but I think I am still stuck on this one!
I love all the large die-cuts suitable for titles and fantastic brads in this collection! There are fabric covered brads that I am still hoarding too!

I am not one to ask for donations for anything...

I understand how hard it is to be able to keep finances in order on a normal day.

But if a lot of people gave just a little it CAN change a life!
I came across this blog (and her plea) via another scrapbookers blog (Stephanie Howell), and since the child the donations are going towards is an orphan in Ukraine AND having seen first hand how hard the conditions are for these orphans, having adopted one AND knowing how the conditions are even WORSE for these special needs children that have NO future, I could not help be called to point you in this direction... even if you can only give a couple dollars... it helps.

Any of these children that can be kept out of an institutionalized life, well, that's a blessing, isn't it.

If you can't give, then please pray. If you CAN give, you might win a ipod touch.

12 Days of Christmas at Imaginisce!!

Today is my post on the Imaginisce blog!

And here is my inspiration!

I used this adorable, but easy to use template from Paper Trey Ink (FREE download)
to create this stocking:The heel of this stocking-packaging!!

And these are the layouts I have created for Imaginisce AND Scrapaganza... the class has been rescheduled for the first week of January-but there will be kits available too!

First we'll use the i-bond to connect these accordion flowers... I made the decorative edge of these accordion flowers by using a Martha Stewart border punch, and using the indent of each scallop as my accordion fold line. The i-bond connects the end in a SNAP!
This layout, we will be using the i-rock to bling it up!!
Once you start, it is like potato chips, good luck stoppin'!
And finally... we'll use our scraps to make this Christmas tree with i-top ornaments!!

Garden Party *NEW from Imaginisce! (& this months sketch!)

So your probably seeing a lot of Christmas and fall layouts. Well I have to be different in SOME way each month... leave it to me. (smile)

I'll be honest. I wasn't sure if I would like this collection (Garden Party). I mean, I was JUST doing girly girl stuff! :)
I am more of a bright colored fan... not so much pink, as BRIGHT pink. BUT I REALLY like how this simple layout for this months sketch for Imaginisce turned out!
Here is the sketch (by the FABULOUS Liz Qualman!)
And here is my take...
This might just be the first time I followed the sketch without changing it much. That NEVER happens. I like to turn them upside down and backwards, usually. But I went with straight forward. And guess what. I actually like it! Shock!
I made the banner above by tracing around one edge of the chipboard under bloom. The die cuts in this collection are HUGE, and there a ton of things that could be used with or as a title! Love it! Make it easy to get pages done! Check!
The paper has a lot of embossing on it... and I REALLY love the background prints. Like the tiny dot of this layout... easy to use patterns.

The launch is coming SOON! So start asking your LSS to get "Garden Party". Might be the only sunshine and flowers we midwesterners see for some months! :)

When I went through the aisles of Micheal's the other day with a friend (you might have seen a nifty picture of me with a snowman hat on, on facebook... {snort} ) I came across this jewelry holder, and the idea with "Enchanted" came to me INSTANTLY!

So a couple days later (that is some AWESOME turn around for me girls!)
This is what I came up with!

Got my i-rock out for this one! It REALLY securely adhered the jewels to the edges of these flowers! They're ON there!

Imaginisce is "Enchanted"

This week is the Launch Party at Imaginisce for their new line: "Enchanted".

The previous Princess line was wildly popular-and so this year brings a new line, that coordinates, and offers something for EVERYONE! Lots of patterns to choose from, and enough theme to get those girlie pages DONE! Way too sweet to miss!

So, since I have a girlie girl, I went right for the obvious!
I wanted to use the castle and carriage and make something for Cora to see, not just in an album, but everyday! THIS girl of mine is in love with mirrors! :)

This day, I took her to the empty lot, when it was teaming with seeded out dandelions. Great neighbors, huh? Well, our future lawn issues aside, there is nothing so enchanting than a field full of these whimsical weeds! A had just gotten some tutu's at a garage sale. How is a mom/photographer to resist?

I already have a couple of the pictures from that day framed, and on the wall... time to scrap!
"Enchanted" was PERFECT for these!

Got my i-rock tool out for these...
I really put my foam squares to work on this one! And ya gotta love a crown! These metallic background stickers are VERY popular at the store! Always the first to sell out! This layout, I had some more fun with my i-rock! OK, can I just say, once you start to i-rock, it is REALLY hard to stop!!! I mean it! It is SO easy and fun! Ya start thinking EVERYTHING needs some bling!
I LOVE the die cuts (titles, shapes and borders!) of this line! Mkes it really easy to get some layouts DONE! And these borders... easy peasy cards come to mind too!

And I have been HOARDING I guess, some other lines layouts! I forgot I hadn't shared these!
From Birthday Bash... it feels SO good to get some layouts done from years ago! These pictures-Gavin's 1st birthday... he'll be 10 in March. Ugh. :)

There are banners on the printed paper (red with white lines) I cut banners from the colored banner sheet and popped them up with foam to highlight some of the banners on the printed paper...
Can I just say, Imaginisce makes the BEST rub-ons! I have used some STINKY rub-ons before. Theirs are not! They don't come off too easily, yet aren't a pain to GET off where you want them!
Perfect!

Can you tell I did this layout and the last one at the height of the banner craze? :)
That is another great thing about Imaginisce paper... you might buy a sheet for the "theme" but there are plenty of prints to choose from on the back sides or even the front that can be used for so much more than the theme!

I decided this was the day to express my gratitude for old friends and great memories...
I use to work at a marine lab.
I got to be a dolphin trainer.
And I miss it regularly.

I love my life, but how could I NOT miss these "friends" I left behind.
Another, not quite as wet friend, Traci Kendall-she started the lab when I did, but she has been there since I left 12 years ago! WOW!

Anyway, that is what my gratitude if about today... old friends.

The Story Matters November!

The Story Matters November is available today...
And it was just as fun to create with as any other... maybe more so for me.
I got four layouts done one right after another.
These papers inspire me.
I like kits, because when you have a kit, you can challenge yourself to use at least:______ of it before the next one comes. Hence, you create each month.
I need that.

So without boring you any longer-here are my creations for November!
I forget to grab this border punch more... I think you are suppose to weave ribbon though it... :)
There's that 25 cent punch again! :)
THIS was a fun layout to make! I cut, and masked and misted (2 colors)... and used an older picture. Check out my GLASSES! Dang cool, I say!
To explain the title... we are vet tech's (RVT's) but that didn't work with the title I wanted, so I played with it-used the "cute" title, and corrected myself as part of the fun. :)
I love using punches... they are such a cool little tool!
This one, the picture isn't the best picture of the layout, since you really can't see the sewing between or on each layer. But it too was fun to create. LOVE my sewing machine still! "Sew" easy to take to crops. (Sorry, couldn't help myself.)
My handsome dude... my oldest. He really IS the thinker. :)
Oh, and my beautiful husband is featured in this layout for this weeks challenge over at TSM!
"Friends and Family". Doesn't really get any easier a subject, does it?
I sewed a lot on this one too... I was experimenting with scrapping down the middle, instead of using my trustworthy design triangle. It's OK.

In December it will be two years... there are messes that are still "moving in" messes in my house. Two years?!?!? Nu-uh!
I am grateful for the blessing it is to have a home. And we got to be the first to live/love here.
We are the first to make memories in this house.
I love this house. I would love a housekeeper too... but ya can't have everything.

OK, so it is a bit predictible... but how can I not be grateful for my children-their health and happiness! Especially as we fight for the happiness of this little girl we flew to Ukraine 5 years ago to bring home to our crazy little family. Attachment disorder... it is a hard fight. But it isn't winning. It tried. We're winning. Thank God.

This picture brings me joy. So much joy.
Despite my self image, my insecurities about my parenting, and my perceived shortcomings...
For the joy I experience in spite of it all, I am VERY grateful.

Imaginisce November Sketch!

Imaginisce Sketch Time!
The talented Melinda Spinks created this fabulous sketch for November!It was REALLY easy to use-one I KNOW I will be using in the future!

I have Christmas on my mind.
On facebook, a friend said "no haters, but we are getting our Christmas decorations out today!"
And honestly, I kinda envy her enthusiasm.
So in the spirit of skipping Thanksgiving as a decorating holiday...
here's my Christmas Cottage layout! :)
(OK, so I did a winter layout.)

There was an edge left around the journaling sticker I had already used on the sheet. I cut out the remaining frame, and placed it on white cardstock, to make this jouranling box...

The Story Matters October...

I was late getting this posted... I want to say "life happens" because it does.

I have actually considered "quiting" scrapbooking.
Not because I don't like it, but because lately, since my life is upside down many days, the only the way I feel I DO have any control is to make things as simple as they can be.
And my scrap space is anything but calming. It'll get there.

But what I would miss most about scrapbooking isn't the paper (which I love to play with), or the embellishment, it's the people I scrap WITH. I don't want to lose that common connection with them.

Nor do I want to lose my "paper therapy". I feel I create things that to ME mean something. If someone else likes them, bonus.

So for now, not quiting.

I'll just have to settle with being behind schedule most of the time.

I will post all four here on my blog... since I don't think anyone has been stopping by much anymore (I stop posting, you stop visiting. I take full responsibility) and I don't think I have to come back to post again when the sketch comes out tomorrow. :)

I DID get a new toy... cheap, but good quality. The Janome Sew Mini. I guess there is a Hello Kitty version too?? It goes on sale for $39.99 sometimes! :)
It is a little powerhouse! I was impressed! And it was simple enough for me to make bobbins, thread, and use! THAT is saying a lot, since lately I have the attention span of a gnat.

So lots of sewing...

This one, I had just bought this little heart punch for 25 cents at the garage sale the crop I was at was having! I was happy it even worked!

LOVE this picture of Gavin playing in the surf. He was in his own world, while off in some fantasy in his head...

This was me going a little nutty with the sewing. Hindsight, I would have rathered it be brown thread, but that's OK... first shot at sewing, and I had fun!
For this... I had an idea in my head, and I wasn't exactly sure where I was going with it all...
I kept it simple... following suit with that goal in my life.
There is a little picture of the kids and I overlooking the ocean in front of the marine lab. It was surreal to be there again, but with 3 kids. Even when I had three kids (left at home) when I visited last time, it wasn't the same as them BEING there... And it makes me reflect on where I have been, and where I am going... with them and for myself.
This sketch, I created (and used previously... the layout I created previously with it is in my gallery) but sweet Megan Klauer made it digital for me. :)

I have more than one friend that cringes when I hand my "expensive" camera to one of my boys. I don't... I love seeing the world through THEIR eyes, not just mine. Gabriel was shooting with my Rebel with the 28-200 lens, while I had the 50D with the 50mm f1.8 on it. I knew were were about to go into the aquarium, and the 50mm would serve me best. But I wanted to bring my zoom lens just in case I was outside later and wanted to catch seals or sea lions at a distance... which I did...

It's that time of the month!
It's time for a new kit!

Patt, Michele, Angie, Angela-thanks for an AWESOME day of my letting loose and having a good time! Ya would have thought Kelly was there, all the 12 year old humor (meaning, I usually act like a 12 year old with Kelly... or my husband. :) )
I SO needed a break, and these ladies were a BLAST! I am glad you all came!

This is my favorite layout from the weekend. :)
I took the cardstock I machine sewed for the first time, and scrapped with it... I added hand stitching, LOTS of stamps (stamps from FOUR sets! And I used metalic ink!) and I even had Michele cut me something on the cricut! (The Sassafras paper die cut in the background of the picture.) I used lots of little embellishies from my stash, and this was the result!

I have two Imaginisce layouts I have to get pictures of too!

The Story Matters August (continued)

I was so inspired by the products in the kit this month, that I sat down and did three MORE layouts! I'm at 5... and I have one more in mind!

This one I did the spiral flower technique, only with felt.
This was my personal favorite this month... I just LOVE this picture of Gabriel sleeping at about 2 years old. It is on my wall as part of my black and white collage. It makes me smile, him with his Larry-mobile and Larry Boy...
I even sewed! Xyron and hand-stitched. A little mist too... it was kinda fun to actually use the vintage-look book page print with the photo in a related way. I don't really feel it HAS to be used this way, but actually it is almost harder TO use it this way!
And this one... an older back to school picture where Gabriel is SO thrilled to go to school like his big brother! Too cute! And yes, I don't mind using pink with boys. Who cares. :)

Store layout turns contest entry-Echo Park!

I wanted to do a store layout with Echo Parks new "Happy Halloween" line of papers... actually, I bought the whole pack of this paper, because the backsides were so bright and usable for anything-not just Halloween... Then I found out there was a contest using said Halloween papers!
I have been lovin' Echo Park. Kelly's favorite salesperson in all the land (Madison, each company he has worked on, Kelly has followed and bought from him!) continues with the start of his OWN company, Echo Park!
I have to say, I LOVE the 12x12 alphabet sheets that give you 3 mini-alphas, and one larger!
Brilliant!

So here is my store layout... and my contest entry! They are giving away their soon to be released Christmas collection! Want me some of THAT! :)

"Hardly Haunting"
I deconstructed some of the sticker elements... stole the lil' spider from the witches hat, and the little banner from a title sticker, and made little slashed in between them so they would curve...
oh and I cut around the spider web on the journaling card (in this case a mat) so it would tuck around the next card... AND the little "Happy Halloween" is from the strip on the end of the paper that usually gets thrown out. I used lots of pop dots to make the house and tree stand out too! There is nothing on this layout besides adhesive and a pen that isn't Echo Park!

Can I just say I am LOVIN' this kit?
I already loved Megan Klauer's style! (She is never short on it!)
But when we set her loose to design this months kit??

I have SO much left, and I have already done 3 layouts! Last count Megan has done SEVEN!
(cough) :)

Here are the first of my creations:
For this, I ACTUALLY Stickle "splattered" and (sit down please) STITCHED! :)
I got that collection of thread out and I added some stitching! It took NO time at all to add these little accents!
I LOVE this picture! It was taken right outside work (there were several rainbow's this last spring) and it was so CLEAR and the clouds so PUFFY!
It reminded me to continue to take the time to enjoy the journey and to not miss the details!

I messed around with some "Maybe Baby" and kept it simple.
I found these pictures in my photo box, and since there favorites of mine...
The paper line has circles and flowers... I decided to keep it simple and just used the circles!

OK, so I can't say I am ready for fall just yet. But I AM ready for this yummy fall LINE by Imaginisce, being released this week! The colors are wonderful! I haven't even gotten to the tree paper yet!Yes, this is a 8 1/2x 11 layout. I like to do those once in awhile.
This layout also have nothing to do with fall. I like to doing that with seasonal or themed lines too.
That's how I roll. :)

Once I did the layout, I thought I would use the same background for the card!
(Yes... try not to fall over. I did a card. :) )
Those stickers on the card are canvas!

Thank you for all of you that have been asking about Cora and her upcoming surgery!

So it's time for her FOURTH surgery for her cleft this Friday. And it's a hard one!
She is having a bone graph to repair the jaw portion of her cleft, and a pharyngeal flap created to hopefully help with her speech.
They suspect we will be in the hospital for 3 days.
If you are willing to let us "see" your prayers and thoughts of concern, please go ahead and mail a card to:

So ya think it's summer huh?
I LOVED this kit... (more of my creations coming with the challenges!)Even though we added some "predictable" red, white and blue...

(These star were simply cricut cut, then scored, then pop dotted under the center to keep their dimension!)
...it also offered enough variation in it's palate and second sides for me to create this!

Want your string to "stay put" where you lay it? I just used a touch of "Art Glitter" glue along the back of the string randomly amongst the twists and turns... it's on there now! You have GOT to go check out the other inspiration from the other designers!
And remember-there are challenges weekly at TSM!

MY Eclipse movie review! :)

OK, yes...
I was one of the crazies sitting in a movie theater for hours watching two movies I have seen several times in anticipation of the release of the third!

It was fun!

And surprisingly, the crowd was well behaved. Though it was weird. They openly laughed at things that weren't so funny many times. Very Weird.

ANYWAY, at 11:59pm the previews began. If you are a Harry Potter fan, you got to see the trailer to the TWO movies that are coming out November 2010 and I think it was March 2011... I was never really into those, and have only seen the first movie-but they DO look visually stunning.

OK, on to Eclipse.

The trailers show WAY too much of the movie. That said I was still delighted.

-It moved FAST! I am not sure if it moved TOO fast or not. I have read the books, so I knew all the filler info.. I am not sure if there was too much assumed for someone to follow if they have only seen the other two movies and not read the books. That would be the dudes. But then, they are only sitting there waiting for the fight scenes anyway...-The romance was fabulous, but the scenes were again, more for someone with ADD. Do we have to make EVERYTHING for those with ADD?? :) It isn't bad enough that music videos are forever lost to those who can't follow a 3 minute story??? :) I loved every romantic scene, and could have EASILY, even after hours of build up watching the other two movies prior, "scene" more!!
-Victoria was HORRIBLE! With all the money this franchise must have, they couldn't come up with a better wig?? Really? She SHOULD have looked as close to Rachelle "what's her name" as possible!
She (1st Victoria) screwed up, really. But for the stories sake, 2nd Victoria should have been more of a look alike. Bryce was too "soft" looking. They should have found a way to work it out with Rachelle... it was too distracting, her wig and looks.
-Speaking of hair. Jasper's hair was different. Why? And Alice's hair too (though much like it was in New Moon). I STILL miss the way they did her hair in the first movie. It was SO her personality! Rosalie's hair was different this time, and SO much better! That was my biggest complaint from the first two movies. Rosalie did NOT match the books description. The changes to it in this movie made her appear more "stunning" and less "fake" than the last two movies. But the hair changes were a bit odd as far as flow is concern.
-The wolf pack add-ons (Leah and Seth) were SPOT ON!

**SKIP THE NEXT PARAGRAPH IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE BOOK! Could be a spoiler!

-The kiss... (Wolfman and girl) Uhm, stunning! I'm Team Edward ALL THE WAY, but there is no not appreciating the scene... hate to admit. Though I was waiting for the "flash" of the scene written about in the book-of them together... and it didn't happen.

-The scenery was SPOT ON and STUNNING. (Where the tent scene was-almost EXACTLY as my mind read/saw it!) The only thing is, I wish they would have used the same open field as the baseball scene from the first book... WHY is it that they couldn't use the same field (wasn't it in the books that way??) Really? I don't get that. And on that note...
-WHY couldn't they have used the same house as in Twilight? I remember reading someplace it was because of it not being right for production or something. ??? But it is annoying to me that they change the orientation of Bella's room, and windows, and location to the front, and the amount of trees, and how close to the house, and garage or no garage... Weird. I'm just stayin'.
-The tent scene... ahhhhh the tent scene. It was very good. Even if not all it was read to be. Edward's anguish was not as intense because of the scene being somewhat rushed, but honestly, as good as the romance was, it was obvious it was shot by a director that was more into the action than the romance. They did it justice, but again, it could have been given a few more minutes of tortured anguish in my humble opinion. Again, most of the romance was good but a bit rushed. (Like the scene in bed below-more please. Does that sound naughty?)
-I really missed the scene from the book where Edward was waiting on the road and come up behind her right when she came over the treaty lines. That was Eclipse, right? I missed the pent up anguish he endured when she was back and forth from being with Jacob. Though the scene where she punches Jacob and Edward is P.O'd suited me. :)
-I also miss the line where he says he may be immortal but he is a man too... (referring to her thinking maybe he doesn't "want" her.) The way he said it was so sweet but honest in the book. I was hoping to hear it in the movie.

-The bits of well placed humor was wonderful! Way to go! Speaking of the tent scene... there was one line that it will be hard NOT to giggle at! Too funny! (I'm not spoiling it. :) )

-The ending. It reminds me of the LONG wait to movie 4 & 5. (Because the last I heard they are doing the last book in two movies.) I REALLY hope they do what they did for Harry Potter. They shoot it at once, then separate them only by 4-6 months. THAT would be good planning.

I give it 4 1/2 out of 5 stars... IF you have read the books. I DO think they did a good job of keep in things that you would think they might not have time for-like the side stories (Rosalie, Jasper, and the Native American's council fire meeting.) I think it did the series justice. There are things I would chance each movie (cuz I too am opinionated.) But over all, I think they did a good job continuing the story... but the next director-DON'T rush the love! :) PLEASE!

PS-Bella's wig was FINE! I didn't even remember it was a wig until the end. NOTHING like the red nightmare that Victoria donned! :)

So today is the day!
I have had my tickets for WEEKS!
I am going to sit in the theater and re-watch Twilight and New Moon
as to have it all build up to end this long wait for "Eclipse"!
It kinda snuck up on me, the release!
With baseball 4 nights a week, and the Favorite Things crop last weekend...
I didn't even get a chance to reread the book as planned!

But today is the day!
YAY!

I even did a layout about Edward a couple of months back!

OH, and to those that tell themselves "I'd never watch that silly movie or read those books about vampires." Yeah. I said that too.

Then I watched Twilight on showtime, HAD to read the books cuz the romance was SO wonderful, and then I proceeded to read all FOUR books (600+ pages each) in a weeks time...

...which lead to this countdown to Eclipse! (after going to see New Moon 3 times, was it, at the Nova while it was still out!?!)

Never say never.

Hey... there are worst things than vampires when they actually believe in God, save themselves for marriage, and their love is SO deep!

Just sayin'. :)

Here are a few pictures I took of my daughter...
How could there be no God? This beautiful creature was born with a cleft lip and palate halfway around the world from here, and yet here she is, full of it, but beautiful and happy... I am not buying "chance".

The Greatest Gift (Adoption)

I created RANDOMLY the other day... OK, so I DID know there was an adoption call for Scrapbook Trends, but what I wasn't assigned, was what papers, embellishment, etc. I was to use!
I used the "packed by" postcard in my Studio Calico kit for the butterfly and grid paper that I used in the upper corner.

The background was the result of demonstrating glimmer mist... the mask was a little scrap of border punch! I liked the results of the demo, saved it, and saw it laying there when I went to create this layout.

It is pretty simple, but sweet-which is the feeling I was going for!
